The Central Indiana Young Marines are part of a not for profit, national organization for youth, ages 8-18, founded to promote the mental, moral and physical development of young Americans. We teach God and Country, leadership, discipline, citizenship, fitness and academic achievement, as well as self-confidence and team building. Each year the Central Indiana Young Marines hold an Auction/Chili Supper as their major fundraiser for the year. This year's event will be held at the Hesler Naval Armory on September 27, 2008. The money generated from this event funds many activities throughout the year and enables us to purchase uniforms,textbooks, insurance and send Young Marines to Leadership Schools at our expense. National Kidney Foundation of Indiana offers Free Health Screening
(Indianapolis, Indiana) -- The National Kidney Foundation of Indiana is holding a free screening for people at increased risk disease. The screening will be held at Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church, 1003 W. 16th Street., Indianapolis, In from 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 23, 2008. The screening is part of the National Kidney Foundation's Kidney Early Evaluation Program (Keep) A program designed to help identify and educate individuals at increased risk, those who either have diabetes and /or hypertension or who have first degree relatives (parents, grandparents or siblings) with hypertension, diabetes or chronic kidney failure. diabetes abd hypertension are the two leading causes of kidney failure. A Memorial and Dedication Ceremony for our Fallen Brothers and Sisters of 9-11-2001

Main Street Arcadia, Indiana 46030 I, Sarah Schafer the President of Jackson Township Fire Department, as well as my fellow Firefighters are planning a Memorial and Dedication for the fallen heroes of 9/11. The memorial and dedication will include a monument with a list of names of our Fallen Heroes as well as a piece of steel beam from the Twin Towers of 9-11-2001. The ceremony will be held on 9-11-2008 @ 4:00 p.m. This is set to take place at our Fire department. Our plans include, a moment of Silences as well someone will play the taps. On Saturday, August 23rd, 2008 the Indiana Chapter of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation will hold the 9th Annual FESTIV-ALE, A Celebration in Beer Tasting Presented by Blue Moon and United Package Liquors at Scotty's Brewhouse on the Northside of Indianapolis from 4:00p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The Event will bring together numerous volunteers, corporations, and beer-tasting enthusiasts who will work together to fight cystic fibrosis (CF), the most prevalent genetic disease among young Americans today. FESTIV-ALE is expected to raise over $55.000 by recruiting approximately forty beer vendors, fifteen local food establishments and more than 1,200 participants. On July 10th Officer Jason Fishburn aka :Fish" was chasing a murder suspect when he was shot in the head and chest. Miraculously Jason fought through the night and survived those critical first 72 hours. His condition continues to improve, but he faces a long road to full recovery. Due to this devastating injury we are compelled to sponsor a fundraiser in honor of our city's finest. On Thursday August 28, 2008 the Bars in Broad Ripple will be hosting a fundraiser to help Jason with unforeseen expenses he and his wife will incur. Autism Advocates of Indiana, Inc Presents the 2008 Answers for Autism Walk
On September 13, 2008, Autism Advocates of Indiana, Inc presents the 2008 Answers for Autism Walk. This event takes place at CoxHall Gardens, Carmel, IN (116th and Towne Rd.) A 1-mile stroller friendly and handicap accessible walk. In addition to the walk, there will be family entertainment, sensory activities, refreshments and most importantly, information on issues surrounding autism. A portion of the money donated goes to national research, but most stays here to support Autism program in Indiana.
